The Farm Progress Show is back in Iowa and Calhoun County REC will be joining other Touchstone Energy Cooperatives in Iowa exhibiting at this leading outdoor farm show, to be held in Boone County August 31-September 2.
Stop by lot #801 to learn how to improve energy efficiency on the farm and in your home; watch electrical safety demonstrations throughout the day; learn about renewable energy technology; and, as an electric cooperative member, register for your chance to win a portable standby generator (only electric cooperative customers are eligible for the drawing). In addition, all REC members who visit the REC tent will receive two free CFL bulbs (while supplies last). To register for the generator and receive your free CFLs, bring

Another drawing will be held before the show to select members for a free balloon ride in the Touchstone Energy hot-air balloon. Rides will be offered on September 1 and 2 and all participants will be selected before the show. If you are interested, submit

The site near Boone is on Highway 17 just north of Highway 30. The Farm Progress Show was held at this location in 2008 and the show will rotate between this site and one in Decatur, Illinois.
In 2008, the 106-acre expo hosted more than 500 exhibitors showcasing the latest products and visitors from more than 40 states and 30 countries attended.
