- Rockwell City is a city in Calhoun County, Iowa. The population was 2,264 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Calhoun County.
The city maintains a sand volleyball court, tennis courts, an outdoor swimming pool, a walk park/naturalist area, Little League ball diamonds and two parks.
Organized activities include a summer recreation program, swim team, baseball, softball, basketball, wrestling, biking, adult education programs, a model airplane club and a gun club.
The public schools are open during non-school hours for walkers and other athletes.
Twin Lakes is just five minutes from Rockwell City. Thirty-five percent of the shoreline is available for public use. This includes three state parks, two county parks, and three boat ramps. North Twin Lake, a natural blue-water lake, is especially popular for water skiing, sailing, swimming and camping. South Twin Lake has a wildlife refuge and hunting/fishing areas. A nine-hole golf course borders the lake.
