Paying attention to energy efficiency is more important than ever when building or remodeling a house.
For that reason, local area Touchstone Energy® cooperatives are hosting FREE “Build It Right” workshops to provide tips and information about energy-efficient construction, features, and appliances.
The information provided will be useful if you are a consumer thinking about building or remodeling your home and equally valuable if you are a building trades professional interested in learning more about new trends in building.
There are four choices of dates and times.
Tuesday, March 12 – Carollton Inn, Carroll. The day begins with Top 25 Code Violations from 7:30-930, with Build It Right from 10:00-3:00. Attend one or both sessions.
Saturday, March 16 – Maynes Grove Lodge, Hampton. Build It Right, 10:00-3:00
Thursday, March 21 – Willow Ridge Golf Course, Fort Dodge. Top 25 Code Violations 7:30-9:30, followed by Build It Right, 10:00-3:00. Attend one or both sessions
Saturday, March 23 – EPS, Graettinger. Build It Right, 10:00-3:00.
Top 25 Code Violations will be taught by Dwight Kramer, northwest Iowa electrical inspector. The session is especially appropriate for electricians, of course, but contractors and consumers considering building or remodeling may be interested in the information, too.
Build It Right workshop speakers include Bill McAnally, energy-efficient home building expert, and Don Jahnke, homes rater and weatherization specialist. Topics include:
• Framing: insulation and energy-efficient windows, doors, and materials
• How energy efficiency, a healthy home, and increased comfort complement each other
• Home energy ratings
• ENERGY STAR appliances and heating and cooling, including geothermal
• New products and technologies to save energy dollars
• Energy-efficiency rebates from your electric cooperative
• And more!
